Lake Titicaca and Isla del Sol – Detailed itinerary
DAY 1 – LA PAZ – COPACABANA/LAKE TITICACA,- ISLA DEL SOL: YUMANI
We pick you up in the morning from your hotel, bound to Lake Titicaca! We drive through La Paz, El Alto and then the typical high plateau scenic panorama, until we finally reach the blue of Lake Titicaca. At the Strait of Tiquina we leave our private transportation, cross the Strait by ferry and then hop on a bus for a short ride to Copacabana, the main town on the shore of the lake and a famous local tourist resort. From here, we get the ferry to Isla del Sol. We check in at our hotel in the village of Yumani and we start visiting Southern side of the Island. We will see the Inca Steps, the Fountain of Youth and enjoy many panoramic views of the lake and the snow-capped Cordillera Real on the horizon. We will not miss the spectacular sunset (weather permitting), make our last arrangements for the following day and spend the night in Yumani.

Lake Titicaca, the deep blue gem of the Andes and Isla del Sol, with spectacular views and laid back traditional communities.
Meals included: Lunch, dinner

DAY 2 – ISLA DEL SOL: YUMANI, CHINCANA, CHALLA PAMPA – COPACABANA – LA PAZ
Today is a full day, packed with things to see and memories to make. We get up early, have breakfast and leave for the Willa Thaki hike to the north of the island. Willa Thaki runs along the backbone of the Island and allows spectacular views of the coast, the lake and the Cordillera on the horizon. In about 4 hours at a gentle pace, through nature and small local communities, we reach the Chincana ruins, an Incan archeological site displaying a maze of stonewalls, a sacrificial table and the rock where, according to legend, the god Viracocha himself was born. After some well-earned rest, we start the last leg of our hike to get to the picturesque village of Challapampa (approximately 1 hour), where we can visit the Museo del Oro, a tiny but interesting museum displaying artifacts collected underwater off the island and enjoy the village vibe.
From Challapampa, we take our ferry back to Yumani and then Copacabana. Once in the mainland, we will start trip back to your hotel in La Paz.
Important note: the proposed itinerary and timetable assumes the use of public ferries between harbors in Isla del Sol and between the island and mainland, which are very limited in number and at fixed hours. When customizing the private tour, it is also possible to consider using private boats to allow a different or more flexible timetable.

According to Incan mythology, Isla del Sol is the birthplace of Viracocha, god of Sun and maker of Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo, the progenitors of the Incas who left the island to found the Inca civilization in Cuzco
