DAY 1 – LIMA 

Arrive in Lima at any time, hotel check-in and free time to acclimatize. We will have a group welcome meeting to review the trip’s itinerary and provide last-minute details and updates. 

DAY 2 – LIMA/CUSCO 

Hop on a flight to Cusco. Enjoy a free day of shopping and exploring the city. You may choose to prebook the Cusco cooking Class or opt for a city tour to have a first glimpse of what was Qosqo, the capital city of the Inca empire (we will have more time to see explore the city on our way back from Machu Picchu).

DAY 3 – CUSCO OLLANTAYTAMBO 

At 8 am, a private bus will pick us up to enjoy a full-day guided tour of the Sacred Valley, the XXX. It’s a relatively short ride (about XXX) with spectacular views. We will stop at the G Adventures- supported women’s weaving co-op before visiting a local pottery making community.  

Break for lunch at the G Adventures-supported Parwa Community Restaurant in Huchuy Qosqo.   

After lunch we explore Ollantaytambo: opt to hike the magnificent archeological site, with its storehouses and well-preserved ruins, including a defense post on a hill top from where you can enjoy a spectacular view. In addition to the ruins, wander around the cobblestone streets of this picturesque village and visit a local chicheria (corn beer bar).

DAY 4 – INCA TRAIL 

This is the day! At 8 am, we depart Ollantaytambo  for a short ride by van to km 82 of the XXXX road, at Kusicancha, where the Inca Trail begins.  We cross the narrow bridge and afterwards head towards the left-hand side of a forest of Eucalyptus trees. The adventure has started!  Ease into the adventure with a straightforward day of hiking the meandering streams, stunning Andean scenery and ancient Incan ruins.

Transportation: Private bus from Ollantaytambo to Kusicancha, then trek 

Lodging: Camping (tents already set-up at camping site) 

Camping on this night is either in Wayllabamba or Llullucha. 

DAY 5 – INCA TRAIL 

The second day is known to be a bit more difficult, but it’s worth it. We start early to climb the long steep path to Warmiwañuska, better known as Dead Woman’s Pass. This is the highest point of the trek at 4,198m (13,769ft). Most hikers reach camp by early afternoon, with ample time to rest and relax or explore the surrounding area and views.

DAY 6 – INCA TRAIL 

The third day is the longest, but also the most interesting due to the changes in microclimates. on today’s trek, we cross two more passes and ruins. The first pass is Runquraqay at 3,950m (13,113ft) where, on a clear day, hikers can catch a glimpse of the snow-capped Cordillera Vilcabamba. We then hike through the cloud forest on a gentle climb to the second pass of the day, walking through original Incan constructions. The highest point of the pass is 3,700m (12,136ft). On a clear day, we can enjoy the spectacular views of the Urubamba Valley. At 3,650m (11,972ft), we reach the ruins of Phuyupatamarca, the “town above the clouds”. We camp here or go another 1.5 hours to the Wiñay Wayna ruins (“forever young”), located at 2,650m (8,694ft).

DAY 7 – MACHU PICCHU/CUSCO 

Today we finally get to Machu Picchu! The final day of the hike starts pre-dawn to reach the Inti Punku (Sun Gate) before sunrise. On a clear day, we can catch the first views of the breathtaking ruins of Machu Picchu. We hike down to the citadel for a guided tour of the ruins, and then we have time to wander around and enjoy this spectacular site before a short downhill hike to reach the village of Aguas Calientes, where we will catch our train back to Cusco.

DAY 8 – CUSCO 

Continue to explore Cusco on a free day in the city.

DAY 9 – CUSCO/AMAZON JUNGLE 

Fly to Puerto Maldonado and continue by motorized boat to the comfortable and intimate Lodge Amazon.

Transportation: Commercial flight from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado, boat to lodge 

Lodging: Jungle Lodge 

DAY 10 – AMAZON JUNGLE 

Enjoy guided excursions led by expert naturalists to spot wildlife at nearby oxbow lakes and along jungle trails. Spend some time relaxing in a hammock, enjoying the local swimming hole, or visiting a nearby plantation. Optional: you can sign up for a caiman-spotting cruise after dinner.

DAY 11 – AMAZON JUNGLE /LIMA 

Fly back to Lima for an optional final dinner and night out.

DAY 12 –LIMA 

Depart at any time.
