Code 001 Santa Cruz city tour – half day

Pick up at hotel. Visit the Cathedral Basilica of San Lorenzo and climb its tower to admire unique city views.  

San Lorenzo cathedral, Santa Cruz’ most iconic landmark, dominates the central square and went through several major redesigns and reconstructions over the centuries. The first original church was built in the mid-1500s, but the current structure dates back to 1838 and no later than 1968 was its beautiful exposed brick façade uncovered from a layer of sand and plaster. 

Linger around the central square area to enjoy its several attractions, often overlooked but hidden in plain sight:  

• the traditional craftsmanship market 
• the Casa de la Cultura (House of Culture) with its temporary art exhibitions 
• the Casa Melchior Pinto with its art exhibitions and the trendy coffee in its patio 
• the Manzana Uno, hosting the first street art project in Santa Cruz 

Visit the 7 Calles traditional street market (Mercado de las 7 Calles), bustling with shops and street food vendors.
